Sr Maria Veronica 92 walks with the aid of a stick and occasionally a wheelchair. She belongs to the congregation of Daughters of St Theresa of the child Jesus (Banyatereza ) and now staying in the community of Holy Family convent Kinyamasika in Fort Portal Diocese. The convent is established for the elderly nuns.
Sr Veronica exudes unusual energy as she has to attend daily mass which is at 7am daily, talks vibrantly and, reads the bible without glasses.
“I wake up at 5.30am to prepare myself for the morning Mass which starts at 7am,” she says.

Fort Portal tourism city has one city mayor and two division mayors for North and Central divisions.
In the recently-concluded elections, Mr Edson Asaba Ruyonga (NRM) was elected mayor of Fort Portal City while North and Central divisions elected Mr Joseph Kiiza (NRM) and Mr Richard Muhumuza (NRM), respectively.
Mr Asaba, who is serving a fourth term, said he would ensure residents get value for taxes.

Brief bio. Born in 1949 to Yusuf and Ziporrah Rwamushekuzi in Kabale District Tushabe went to Bugangari Primary School, Kambuga before joining Mbarara High School for O-Level and Kigezi High School for A-Level.
In 1972 he went to East African Railways training school in Kenya where he graduated with certificates in advanced business administration, office management and transport.

The 72-year-old, donning a blue kitenge teamed with black trousers and sandals, is warm to his guests as he directs them to the waiting cottage.
Tibagwa: 91-year-old with zeal to teach

Back in time. Flora Tibagwa, 91, a former primary school teacher, still takes pleasure in teaching young children.
She met and married John Kasule in 1954. The couple was blessed with six children of whom only two are alive. Kasule passed on in 1993.

Some choose to become teachers in order to earn a living, others become teachers as a path to other opportunities while others, such as Flora Tibagwa do it out of an inherent need to make a difference.
At 91 years, the former teacher is still giving lessons and imparting wisdom to whoever crosses her path. The nonagenarian retired from her beloved profession after 36 years and now spends quiet days in Kikiike village in Rubingo parish, Fort Portal City.

Our reporter at Kyengombe park yard polling station in Rubaga South said by 7.30am, no polling agent had arrived but the voters were still waiting.
At Lugala Namungona Kigobe polling station, voters had already come in big numbers by 7am but polling material had not arrived yet.
Fatuma Nakawunga, a polling assistant at the polling station, said that the Electoral Commission (EC) had assured them that polling material would be available as early as 6am but they were also not sure what was happening.
