Kinley Chattanooga Southside, a new 64-room lifestyle hotel developed by Vision Hospitality Group and managed by Humanist Hospitality. is celebrating local female artists with curated commissioned art found throughout the hotel. Located in the city’s Southside entertainment district, a walkable neighborhood where art and culture make up the community, the Kinley opened on March 4.
Handmade, locally curated paintings, weavings and prints can be found upon entering the hotel, in the hotel’s lobby, the hotel’s coffee and cocktail bar, The Exchange, and in each of the 64 guest rooms. On a wall outside the Kinley Hotel in downtown Chattanooga - near the Choo-Choo - a large-scale mural fills the space for all to see.
The hotel describes it as “a kaleidoscope of color and shape” - painted by Alecia Buckles, known artistically as Alecia Vera - and Briah Gober, a senior on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Artists Work Grant Program: First Recipients Announced Thursday, February 4, 2021
ArtsBuild, Public Art Chattanooga and the Southeast Tennessee Development District announce the recipients of the first round of the Artists Work Grant program. The Artists Work Grant program, established in October 2020, provides funding to individual artists, artist studios and non-profit arts organizations to produce artworks for public spaces in Chattanooga. Funding for the program is provided by the city of Chattanooga, Lyndhurst Foundation, Benwood Foundation and the Footprint Foundation.
The new grant program received a high volume of applications in the first round, with a diverse range of proposals. A total of $104,700 was awarded to fund eight projects in the following two grant categories:
