For the first time since the beginning of Englandâs first national lockdown, I saw my mum sit down next to my granâs bed to hold her hand and comfort her. It was 8 March, the first day of regulations being loosened to let children back into schools and allow care home residents to be visited by their loved ones. The rules permit only one visitor, so I watched through her window.
