The Embarrassment of Having a Prophet: On Steve Daily s Ellen White Psychobiography

Prophets, and the people who listen to them, have changed a great deal in our time. And although there are still many believers who do not perceive this, Adventism must not fail to recognize and assimilate it.

New Voices Swell the Chorus for Choir Room Sabbath School: A Case Study of Moving Online

Search Written by:  April 30, 2021 Impact felt near and far through storied Sabbath School at Pacific Union College’s embrace of livestreaming for the pandemic age. Unable to meet in its namesake room upon California’s pandemic lockdown last spring, the Choir Room Sabbath School at Pacific Union College went virtual in a give-it-a-try that became so successful that this class, known for amplifying discussion among a broadminded range of voices, will remain online even as lockdown reverses and the PUC Church opens its doors. Interpreting the Messiah

Interpreting the Messiah January 26, 2021 The most loved and, perhaps, significant verse of Isaiah 9:1–12:6 also form the lyrics of my favorite piece in Handel’s The Messiah: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6, KJV). Perhaps our appreciation of these words stems from its awesome combination of divinity, power, aid, and peace. Perhaps we also read these words in retrospect, envisioning their fulfillment in the deeds and teachings of Jesus.
