Two local businesses were penalized on Wednesday for breaking the province’s COVID-19 regulations.
Greater Sudbury Police, in collaboration with Sudbury’s bylaw services, Public Health Sudbury and Districts, and the Alcohol Gaming Commission of Ontario, charged the owner of a pub on Cedar Street for failure to comply with the Reopening Ontario Act.

The owner was released on an undertaking and has a scheduled court date on May 4.
“The decision to charge the owner of the pub rather than issue a fine was based on numerous complaints received by our agencies regarding a complete disregard of the regulations under the Reopening Ontario Act,” police said in a release.
