Home care company with Chester base secures £2 million boost

Alcedo Care Group new location is on Walshaw Park House on Walshaw Road. Strengthening its presence in Greater Manchester, Alcedo has invested more than £200,000 in the new office and the company plans to recruit more than 150 carers this year. The Bury office will start with a team of 20 administrative staff and carers, enabling Alcedo Care to offer the high-quality home care for which it is renowned to clients in Bury. Alcedo Care is run by husband and wife Andy and Jo Boardman. Managing director, Andy Boardman, said: “This year has started well and Bury is the latest location in the north west for a new office for the company, which will allow us to offer our award-winning services to clients in the area.
Alcedo Care Group has appointed Catherine Hill as its new head of quality and compliance. Taking the lead on all areas of product and service quality – including the rigorous auditing of internal systems and procedures, safeguarding and meeting Care Quality Commission (CQC) and local authority regulations – she is responsible for ensuring the group continues to deliver exceptional care as it embarks on a concerted growth plan this year. Cathy has worked in the health and social care sector for more than 18 years. She started as a support worker before working her way to a senior manager registered with the CQC.

Mr Boardman said: “I’m proud to be from Wigan and it’s incredibly good to be able to grow the business in Wigan. It’s just nice to be home.
“We want to grow Wigan in the same way we have grown St Helens. We’re really keen to expand the Wigan operations. We’ve got a real passion for the town and Wigan people make fantastic carers.
“There are a whole range of requirements in Wigan, like everywhere else in the country.
“There is a great demand for high-quality home care provision in the borough.”
Mr Boardman says Alcedo is looking to employ around 10 carers a month as it looks to become a bigger player in the sector.
