Fact vs. fiction about Israel  A recent letter writer informs us that she ll scream if she hears one more politician talk about Israel s right to defend itself against the Palestinians  and then she writes she ll give us some facts.   She writes that Israel illegally occupies Palestine and she calls that a fact. The fact is, there never was a country named Palestine, so what is Israel occupying? The land of their ancestors. The Arabs living there in 1948 rejected the U.N. plan to share it with the Jews, and attacked the Jews (the Jews had reluctantly accepted the plan) … and the Arabs lost.
