Two years ago, Jason Kenney was the Sir Edmund Hillary of political climbers, leading his United Conservative Party to conquer Mount Alberta in the 2019 provincial election.
Today, he is the Nancy Greene of political downhill racers, zipping his way to the foot of the public-approval mountain.
A succession of public opinion polls in the past year have indicated a steady decline in Kenney’s approval. This week, a new Leger survey indicates 72 per cent of Albertans are dissatisfied with the Kenney government’s response to the pandemic. Only 26 per cent were satisfied. That’s the lowest approval rating of any provincial government in the country.
