Chieftaincy cases at the W/R House of Chiefs biggest challenge Awulae Adjaye III

The number of chieftaincy cases pending at the Western Region House of Chiefs stand at 61, the Acting President of the House, Awulae Annor Adjaye III, has revealed, stressing that the rising trend is regrettable and the ‘biggest challenge.’
Out of the number, 42 cases are petitions with 19 standing as appeal cases. However, with the new administrative set up in Ghana, the National House of Chiefs at an emergency meeting on April 1, has directed that 22 of cases should been transferred to the Western North Region.
Awulae Annor Adjaye III, disclosed these at a stakeholders’ consultative meeting with the Minister of Energy, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh and the Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs Minister, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, at Sekondi, on Monday.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has sworn in the members of the eighth Council of State, with a charge on them to offer honest advice to deepen democracy and help advance the development of the country.
President Akufo-Addo administered the Oath of Allegiance, the Oath of Membership of the Council and the Oath of Secrecy to the 31-member council.
After that, each of the members received the instrument of appointment contained in a red, gold and green scroll, with the black star in the middle.
The members, majority of whom were members of the seventh council, both appointed and elected, also signed the Oath Book, which the President sealed by appending his signature.
President Akufo-Addo says though his administration has made gains in all sectors of the economy, the country still has challenges of illegal mining, corruption in public life and the need to enhance the efficiency of the state’s administrative machinery.
He has, therefore, called on members of the Council of State to be proactive partners in their common efforts to find solutions that will improve the lives of the people and safeguard the integrity of the nation.
Speaking at the swearing in ceremony of members of the Council of State in Accra yesterday, President Akufo-Addo also noted that the second wave of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic is threatening the economic success chalked by the country, and besieged the newly-sworn in members of the Council to help salvage the situation.
