COVID-19 continues to hold its grip on Strathcona County.
As of Thursday, May 7, Alberta Health reported 382 active COVID-19 cases in Strathcona County 296 cases in Sherwood Park and 86 in the rural area.

Tracking the virus, that marks an increase of 79 new active cases this week in Strathcona County since Monday 61 in the Park and 18 in the rural area.
The spread of the virus within the urban area is slowing slightly with a local active case rate per 100,000 population of 402.9 on Thursday, which is an improvement of 432.2 on Wednesday and 458.8 on Monday.

After years of hard work and training, and mere months from Olympic qualifiers, athletes have had to deal with the global pandemic, which forced the postponement of the Tokyo 2020 games.
But athletes have met the postponement with resiliency and a determination to turn the extra training time to their advantage.
