Walter Mondale dead at 93, former vice president and presidential nominee

Walter Mondale, former vice president and presidential nominee, dies at 93 David Shribman © (ANN HEISENFELT / Associated Press) Former Vice President Walter Mondale and his wife, Joan, in 2002. (Ann Heisenfelt / Associated Press) When Walter Mondale the pioneering vice president under President Carter ended up on the losing end of Ronald Reagan’s landmark 49-state landslide in 1984, he fretted that it would dominate, even warp, his legacy.
