Police responded to the area of Ontario and Benson streets at approximately 5:35 p.m. after receiving reports about shots being fired, according to a news release. At the scene, police found evidence consistent with gunshots and began to conduct an investigation. Shortly after police heard about the incident, staff from Albany Medical Center Hospital notified them that an 18-year-old man was at the emergency room with a gunshot wound to the back, police said. It was determined that the man was shot while at Ontario and Benson streets.
