Meet Colton Watkinson Of The Albany NLL [AUDIO]
The days of saying the Albany NLL team are rapidly coming to an end. Tomorrow at the Times Union Center we find out the official name of the Lacrosse team that will call the arena on South Pearl Street home. Today I introduce you to another member of that team, Colton Watkinson.
It has been awesome to meet the men that will reintroduce the Capital Region to indoor lacrosse. The plus side of it is having an idea just who these guys are as we wait for the games to begin in December, the downside we still have to wait until December. When I asked Colton Watkinson how he felt about the three potential names for what once was the New England Black Wolves he said he s loyal to the old name but excited to be part of the new Albany team. Listen Watkinson s full interview and find out what average TOF is.
The news that Albany would be getting a new indoor lacrosse team is hitting even better than I thought it would. The area is primed perfectly for a new team right now. The success of the Great Danes of the Unversity of Albany has more and more Capital Region residents paying attention to lacrosse. It s only fitting that the team who will call Albany home would have a UA alum on it. Joe Resetarits played for head coach Scott Marr and the Great Danes from 2009 to 2012 and now he s coming back with the Albany NLL team(name currently being decided).
Albany is getting a professional Lacrosse team back and even though we don t know the team s name yet we do know who will be leading the AlbanyNLL team, Glenn Clark. Coach Clark is a five-time National Lacrosse League champion and three-time all-star as a player. He took over the New England Black Wolves in 2015 and now that the Black Wolves are relocating to Albany so is Clark and he s pretty happy to be coming back to the Time Union Center.
I say come back to the Times Union Center because one of those five NLL championships was won on the turf right there on South Pearl street when his Toronto Rock took out the Albany Attack for the title in 2002. Now it ll be Clark s job to win that title for the AlbanyNLL team.
