Finlay s hat THIS week, I am standing aside for a young writer from North Berwick called Finlay McIlwraith. He is 14 years old and is an S3 student at North Berwick High School; when he was younger, he attended Law Primary School. He sent me his story as a present and, after reading it, I asked Finlay if I could share it. It’s a wonderful, heartfelt tale, well-written and engaging. We all have stories to tell and I hope that Finlay’s story may encourage others to find ways to tell theirs too. Enough from me; here is his story:
LAW Primary School P6 and P7 pupils are bringing good cheer to local residents by making Christmas cards for those who might be feeling blue. Inspired by 11-year-old Lottie MacRobert-Ross, who suggested making Christmas cards for the isolated and lonely this Christmas and made a presentation to her class – and whose mum Rebekah MacRobert is a member of the newly formed Bass Rock Community Group – the North Berwick pupils were only too glad to join the kind-hearted project. The cards were delivered along with 130 boxes of tasty treats made and distributed by Bass Rock Community Group. Rebekah, who is also a volunteer with local group Community Connections, said: “The pupils at Law Primary, our members and the volunteers at Community Connections, working together, will hopefully add some cheer to those who will find Christmas a real challenge this year.
