Scottish voters want to regain EU rights lost to Brexit as priority, poll shows

THE majority of Scots are desperate to regain the rights taken from them because of Brexit, according to a brand new poll. And, in what could be uncomfortable reading for Willie Rennie and whoever replaces Richard Leonard, a third of Labour and LibDem voters want their parties to be pushing for EU citizenship rights. In recent weeks, both Keir Starmer and Ed Davey have made clear they don’t want to take the UK back into Europe. On behalf of James Kelly’s Scot Goes Pop, Survation asked 1020 people if they thought “it should be a priority for the Scottish Government to regain” rights lost as EU citizens, “such as being able to live and work in any EU country”.

Pro-EU groups launch campaign to rejoin after Brexit Bill approved

Whether Scotland becomes part of the EU again as an independent nation state, or through the UK as a whole, we know it will not happen overnight. But being a realist doesn’t mean we stop campaigning for our country to be part of that wider European project again. The new director of Scotland-based campaign group eu+me, Alastair MacColl, has also said the campaign to rejoin the EU “begins now” and that his organisation will “concentrate on building impetus for Scotland regaining its rightful place at the heart of Europe, inch by inch, issue by issue”.

Pro-EU groups launch rejoin campaign on eve of new Brexit era

Pro-EU groups launch rejoin campaign on eve of new Brexit era REMAIN campaigners have vowed to keep fighting to rejoin the European Union even as the full impact of Brexit starts to bite. After leaving the political union in January 2020, the UK will leave the transition period keeping it in the EU single market and customs union at 11pm tonight. It means an end to 47 years of seamless trade and a switch to a more bureaucratic arrangement with the EU based on last week’s 1,246-page deal.  The legislation underpinning the deal was passed at Westminster last night, but rejected at Holyrood.
