According to the latest data released on Feb. 25 by Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC, Brussel, Belgium) Market Intelligence, the global offshore wind industry had its second-best year in 2020, installing more than 6 gigawatts (GW) of new capacity, and keeping growth on track despite the impacts of COVID-19 felt in other energy sectors. This growth was driven by a record year in China, which installed over half of the new offshore wind capacity globally last year.
