Early morning on September 5th, 2020, more than 1300 athletes gathered in Tallinn by Lake Harku to test themselves on the IRONMAN Tallinn full or half-distance courses. The IRONMAN race was the first full-distance race in the world since March 2020 and also the last one of the year.
COVID-19 has changed the world in many ways. We’ve had to shift how we race and how we set goals. After months of planning and close communication with the Estonian Government, National Health Board, and the City of Tallinn, the plan came together for how to organize a full-distance IRONMAN race with international participants in a time of uncertainty and restrictions.
