A convocation may mark the end of many years of studying, but for many Qatar Foundation graduates, such as AlAnoud Al Ghamdi a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university this event marks the beginning of a new academic and professional journey, and a new path towards another dream.
Alanoud Al-Ghamdi has transformed a passion for calligraphy into public art pieces that express messages of hope and inspiration.
A senior in business administration at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), Al-Ghamdi was selected in November 2020 to participate in JEDARIART, Qatar Museum s initiative to infuse Doha with murals and meaningful street art.
For JEDARIART, Al-Ghamdi used kufic script, a geometric style used for Quran translation and architectural design, to create a striking mural at Qatar National Library s metro station in Education City. I chose the prayer, and say, My Lord, increase me in knowledge, because Education City is a place where people from all over the world gather to seek knowledge, she said.
Artists paint murals artworks to Umm Slal Mohammed quarantine compound

Doha: Qatar Museums and Abu Issa Holding recently initiated a project to create murals for the Umm Slal Mohammed quarantine compound. The artworks are intended to uplift the spirit of those residing and working at the compound, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Artists Muna Al Bader, Huda Basahal, Alanoud Al Ghamdi, Nada Khozestani and Dimitrije Bugarski volunteered their time to paint murals that bring life and colour to walls within the compound.

Doha: Over the past month, Qatar-based artists have been making their mark on designated walls across Doha as part of Jedariart, Qatar Museums’ public art initiative to activate shared urban areas and add meaning to the city’s walls through curated murals and street art.
The public art initiative, held in partnership with The Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places, Q-Rail, and Woqod and Fire Station: Artist in Residence invited eighteen Qatar-based artists to breathe new life into walls in various locations across the city with murals that shine a light on a variety of topics and spark constructive debate.
