Charlie Cahoon grew up on a farm in Hyde County. In 2018, he succeeded Alan York as the Extension weed specialist for corn and cotton at North Carolina State University. An hourly job with Extension specialist Alan York sparked an interest in weed science.

The 2021 CEI report evaluates businesses based on LGBTQ-related policies and practices across several metrics including non-discrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, supporting an inclusive culture and corporate social responsibility. This year, a record 767 major businesses spanning nearly every industry and geography earned a top score of 100 and the designation of being one of the “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality.”
