Garcia: East Side district could have its seventh council member in seven years

Seven years. Six council members.
That’s the recent history of District 2, which covers the East and Northeast Sides of San Antonio. If current incumbent Jada Andrews-Sullivan loses her June 5 runoff to her former council aide Jalen McKee-Rodriguez, we’ll be up to seven District 2 council reps since 2014.
During this period, District 5, which covers the West Side, has had one council member: Shirley Gonzales.
District 3, which covers the South Side, has also been represented by one person: Rebecca Viagran.
In those districts, unlike District 2, residents don’t need a scorecard to keep track of who is representing them on City Council.
