UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio Alan Miciak has been named the next president of John Carroll University replacing Michael Johnson effective June 1, the university announced Monday.
Miciak becomes the 26
th president of the 135-year-old institution.
Miciak serves as the university’s executive vice president and was previously the dean of the Boler College of Business.
“As president, my single focus will be to ensure each student receives the right mix of academic challenge, experiential opportunity, and personal formation,” Miciak said in a statement. “I look forward to working with our outstanding faculty, staff, and the entire John Carroll community to put our full focus on the well-being and success of our students.”

University president Michael D. Johnson on June 1 will be succeeded by JCU s executive vice president, Alan Miciak, officials said in a release issued Monday, May 3. Miciak, also the former dean of the Boler College of Business, will become the university s 26th president.
The university outlined a goal in the statement of ensuring the continued long-term prosperity of John Carroll University and ongoing great student outcomes. The board saw in Dr. Miciak a unique opportunity to engage a highly qualified new leader from within who has a proven track record at John Carroll to steer the university through the next stage of its transformation, JCU board of directors chair Bill Donnelly said in the release. Working closely with Michael, Al has shown a clear vision and plan for propelling the university to 2050 and beyond with a renewed focus on the student experience.

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio Alan Miciak, executive vice president at John Carroll University, will be the school’s newest president starting June 1.
Miciak, the former dean of the university’s Boler College of Business, will succeed Michael D. Johnson, who has served as president since 2018, according to a news release. Miciak will be the 26th president in school history.
As dean, Miciak helped drive enrollment growth, strategic investment and program innovation, according to a release. The university’s Board of Directors saw how Miciak could help the school navigate through its next phase of transformation, said Board Chair Bill Donnelly in the release.
