Police have launched a murder inquiry after a man died and another was seriously injured in an attack in a house in West Dunbartonshire.
Officers found Billy McGuire, 25, and a 34-year-old man with serious injuries in the property in Perth Crescent, Clydebank just after midnight.
Mr McGuire died shortly after arriving at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
The other man is in a critical but stable condition.
Det Ch Insp Alan McAlpine said the death of Mr McGuire is being treated as murder and the attack on the 34-year-old man as attempted murder.

Emergency services were called to a house in Perth Crescent at around 12.05am on Monday, December 21, where they found two men, aged 25 and 34, seriously injured. They were both taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where the 25-year-old died a short time later. Police have now named the victim as Billy McGuire, and say relatives have been informed.

Emergency services attended and both men were rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital. The 25-year-old man was pronounced dead a short time later, said police. Hospital staff described the 34-year-old s condition as critical . A post mortem examination will take place to determine the exact cause of the 25-year-old s death. The scene remains taped off as police continue their enquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Alan McAlpine, of the major investigation teams, said: “Officers are in the area speaking to neighbours and checking CCTV to try and establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and who was involved. “Our enquiries are at a very early stage and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed an incident take place, or anyone with information to come forward to officers as soon as possible.”
