Wisconsin Rapids City Council District 1 election: Candidate Q&A

WISCONSIN RAPIDS - The closing of the Verso Mill, traffic jams at railroads and economic growth are some of the key issues for District 1 City Council candidates. Ryan Austin and Kyle Finup will face off on April 6 s nonpartisan general election. Incumbent Joe Zurfluh decided to not seek re-election this year. The race will appear on ballots, along with the race for state superintendent of public instruction.   The district includes the northwest side of the city on both sides. For more information on voting in the April 6 election, please visit myvote.wi.gov/en-us.  The Wisconsin Rapids Tribune sent each candidate a questionnaire and asked them to limit their responses to about 100 words. Stevens Point Business 51: City to unveil new designs, cost estimates

STEVENS POINT - The city s massive road project is nearing the final stretch before officials decide on a new design for the main thoroughfare in the city. The final round of public involvement sessions to rebuild Business Highway 51, which includes Church and Division streets, in Stevens Point begins Tuesday. The city will release new designs for the three-mile road project and cost estimates, likely tens of millions of dollars, from engineering company AECOM on the city s website ahead of the first community involvement sessions.  Live online question and answers sessions with city staff and AECOM start Tuesday evening. 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday
