CM declares cyclone emergency

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah presiding over a meeting regarding Cyclone Tauktae on Saturday at CM House declared emergency in all the districts located along the coastline for taking precautionary measures to meet any untoward situation. A control room should be established at the chief secretary s office to keep close coordination with all the districts, in respect of their requirements and giving them necessary instruction on behalf of the government, he said.
The Cyclone Tauktae is heading towards Indian Gujrat, but its periphery is expected to hit the coastline of Balochistan and Sindh causing torrential rain, high winds and rough sea.

KARACHI: A meeting held at the Chief Minister House on Saturday to discuss the cyclone emergency was told that starting Tuesday, Karachi may experience dust storms, thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Sindh CM Syed Murad Ali Shah has declared an emergency in all the districts located along the coastal belt to take precautionary measures for meeting any untoward situation, and ordered the removal of all the billboards in Karachi as a precautionary measure.
“Emergency should be declared in all the districts along the coastal belt of Sindh, while a control room should be established at the chief secretary’s office to maintain close coordination with all the districts in respect of their requirements and for issuing them necessary instructions on behalf of the government.”

KARACHI: Former chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah s daughter Prof Nusrat Shah has been appointed, on political grounds, as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi, for an indefinite period just one month before her retirement.
She will retire on May 5. Nusrat Shah s tenure is not specified in the notification issued by Additional Secretary Boards and Universities Alamuddin Bullo. According to the rules, the notification should have mentioned the period or retirement. The Sindh government had sacked 11 pro vice-chancellors of Sindh universities in January, 2020, on the grounds that they were retired because when the legal opinion was sought, it was found to be against the Universities Act.
