The fear of a lockdown has spurred migration of workers to their hometowns, leading to concerns about the spread of Covid-19, with people travelling in overcrowded buses and trains. The Uttar Pradesh government has ordered mass testing of migrants coming from other states.
India Today TV carried out a reality check at Lucknow’s Charbagh railway station and Alambagh bus station to see how effective are the measures put in by authorities to test migrants for Covid-19.

Sushil Chandra Yadav, the nodal officer at the Charbagh railway station, said that most of the passengers coming to Lucknow are getting tested on a daily basis. Three teams are working in shifts to collect samples. He added that one counter is operating at the Charbagh railway station and another at the Lucknow Junction Station.
