trump stimulus argue voodoo versus science. does anyone know what president trump called this back in 1980s? anyone? something d-o-o economics, voodoo economics. anyone? you can also find me every night 6:00 p.m. eastern, on the beat. she s withdrawing her support for roy moore, and we have a special report on the russia probe. stay tuned right now. the 11th hour with brian williams is next. tonight more women go public with accusations against judge roy moore as moore and his alabama forces dig in and he himself taunts mitch mcconnell tonight saying bring it on. plus donald trump goes on live tv to give himself high marks for his 12-day asia trip. though his experience today will more than likely be remembered for something else entirely.
enough to stick around and talk to us about this extraordinary interview. when you walk back into a newsroom after something like is that, everyone says, what s he like? what was it like to sit there and talk with him? he s a very dynamic guy. he speaks in big, dense par photographs. thoughts spewing out a mile a minute. he can be very hard to follow, actually. taking notes is always difficult with steve because he talks so fast you have to record every word of it or else you ll miss something. i do think, though, you get a real sense for the anger at the republican establishment, the mitch mcconnells of the world, that animates him. and this desire to bring down senate majority leader mcconnell is very real and very visceral. and i think that it only gets more bitter and acrimonious after this fight in alabama because bannon sees this as personal. it is him versus mitch
day is going to be a struggle. you re going to win some and going to lose some, but it s a process. it s a process. former white house chief strategist steve bannon considers himself a more effective messenger for donald trump s inside the walls and confines of breitbart news as its executive chairman. bannon recently sat down with our contributor jeremy peters of the new york times and revealed who he sees as one of the biggest hurdles to moving the trump agenda forward, and that would be mitch mcconnell. i think he showed his contempt for really the trump movement in those actions. so, yes, mitch mcconnell has to go. do you think mitch mcconnell will be majority leader at this time next year? i absolutely do not think he will be majority leader. is that your personal mission, to make that not happen? it s not my personal mission but i have an objective that mitch mcconnell will not be majority leader and i believe it will be done before this time next year. jeremy pet
mcconnell. and roy moore is just going to be a bystander in the way. people who bet on steve bannon in that match-up, but they be wrong to do so? well, here s the thing, i think what bannon has on his side is this deep mistrust of the washington leadership. the reason roy moore was so successful, at least part of the reason, was his ability to make the election in alabama a referendum on mitch mcconnell s leadership. right now roy moore is campaigning on that same message. mitch mcconnell is trying to bring me down. so this could end up being far more about mcconnell than it is about steve bannon, but i just think it s impossible to say when you have such grave allegations hanging over someone like this why steve bannon would pick this fight, this hill to die on seems like an incredibly politically careless move. he is kind of an icon claft already.
press and charlie sykes. jeremy, just before we came on the air there is no reporting in politico. let s call it the nuclear option to save the senate seat. this says senate majority leader mitch mcconnell and his top advisers are discussing the legal feasibility of asking appointed senator luther strange he s the incumbent to resign from his seat in order to trigger a new special election. so certainly a nuclear option by the republican party, by the leader in the senate. do you know of any reason to think there s been movement in this story, is roy moore any closer to pulling out? he s not. if anything, brian, he s dug in further. that open letter to shawn hannity you referred to as the top of the show, says it all. he feels he s being persecuted. and that s a powerful and important emotion when you re talking about the people who support trump and candidates
