A woman rescued from a burning home north of Atmore last week has died.
Evelyn Glen Akers, 73, passed away from injuries she received in the April 23 fire, according to family members. She was trapped in an upstairs bedroom before being rescued by firefighters.
The fire was reported about 6:45 p.m. at the corner of Jack Springs Road and Woods Road. The Poarch Fire Department, Atmore Fire Department, Nokomis Fire Department and the Walnut Hill Station of Escambia Fire Rescue were dispatched to the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
UPDATE: Man killed in Midfield house fire
MIDFIELD Ala. (WBRC) - A deadly house fire in Midfield is under investigation.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office has identified the man as Saxton Thomas Davis, Jr. He was 52.
The fire happened in the 1400 block of Freda Drive on April 27 around 11 a.m.
The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating a cause.

MIDFIELD A man was found dead inside a Midfield home after a fire on Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
Fire personnel responded to the fire at 11 a.m. in the 1400 block of Freda Drive. They found the person and called in the Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and the Midfield Police Department is investigating the death.

BAGLEY The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified a woman killed in a house fire in Bagley on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.
Christi Lynn Dyer, 47, of Bagley, was found near the front door of the home.
Bagley Fire Department and Dora Fire Department responded to the fire in the 7600 block of Robbins place, just after 3 p.m.
The Alabama State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause and origin of the fire and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.
