CAIRO, 27th May, 2021 (WAM) Al Sayed El Quseir, Egypt s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, has met with Dr. Hamad Saeed Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Egypt and the UAE s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, to discuss collaboration in the fields of agricultural and livestock production, research, and investment, as well as fish farming.
During the meeting, the Egyptian minister emphasised the strong strategic relationship between the UAE and Egypt, praising the significant progress both countries are witnessing due to the support of their leadership.
Dr. Al Shamsi also highlighted the distinguished relations between their countries in all sectors, especially their economic relations, underscoring the prospects of increasing the UAE s agricultural investments in Egypt.
Egypt in talks to export grapes & pomegranates to Japan
Egypt’s Minister
of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Al-Sayed el-Quseir has been discussing the prospects for agricultural cooperation between his country and Japan with Japanese ambassador in Cairo, Masaki Noke.
In a statement he said that Egyptian-Japanese relations have seen a great leap during the recent period, indicating that Egyptian citrus fruits are currently invading the Japanese markets, and negotiations are underway on exporting grapes and pomegranates to Japan.
El-Quseir spoke with Masaki Noke about cooperation regarding agricultural mechanization, value chains in the field of agricultural products and related activities, modernization of irrigation methods and the development of agricultural exports.

Egypt’s agricultural exports exceeded more than five million tons in 2020 despite the coronavirus outbreak and its disruption to transport and international trade, according to the country’s minister of agriculture and land reclamation.
Al-Sayed El-Quseir said that 11 new markets were opened for agricultural products, the most important of which was Japan, and that a protocol was signed to export mangoes to the US. These developments proved the quality of Egyptian agricultural products, he added.
