After two days of more modest increases, the number of newly confirmed COVID-19 cases within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit region jumped by 28 on Wednesday afternoon, including one more fatality.
EOHU’s afternoon update brought the cumulative total of COVID-19 cases to 1,251, with the addition of eight new cases in Clarence-Rockland, one in The Nation, six in Russell, one in South Dundas, one in North Stormont, one in South Stormont, one in South Glengarry, and 10 in Cornwall.

It also confirmed a 33rd fatality due to COVID-19, to someone based in Prescott-Russell.

As another 11 COVID-19 cases were confirmed within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit on Thursday afternoon, there was also positive movement in some of the other data that is updated daily.
The new cases bring the running total of confirmed cases within the region to 1,164, additions coming from one new case in Clarence-Rockland, two in Alfred & Plantagenet, one in The Nation, three in Casselman, one in South Dundas, one in South Stormont, one in North Glengarry, and two in Cornwall. One case was removed from South Glengarry, though the EOHU provided no information as to why in its daily website update.

Confirmed case numbers continued to increase over the weekend within the Eastern Ontario Health Unit, according to provincial data.
Data posted on Sunday morning, based on information from the health unit from Saturday afternoon, showed 1,071 total confirmed COVID-19 cases within the EOHU, an increase of four cases from the health unit’s last update on Friday afternoon.

The provincial data, which includes information on test sampling and reporting dates for each new cases, as well as acquisition info, has been lagging behind the EOHU’s daily updates by as many as 30 cases or more in recent days. Twelve cases were added Saturday, and 23 more Sunday morning, to bring the total closer to the EOHU’s running count.
