Royal Enfield exits Vietnam due to poor response Bikewale 2 hours ago - Poor sales due to high import duty  - Was sold via an appointed importer  Royal Enfield will exit the Vietnam market after making its presence felt four years ago. This decision was taken by its official importer, Al Naboodah International and was done due to disappointing sales.  According to a report, the importer wasn’t happy with the overall sales number of the brand. Since its debut four years ago, the brand just couldn’t meet the business expectations. The company sold most of the Royal Enfield motorcycles in Vietnam. The 650cc twins along with the Himalayan, Classic and Bullet were sold.

Indian motorbike maker Royal Enfield has suspended business in Vietnam since late March after a disappointing two-year run. Al Naboodah International, the official distributor of the brand, said the decision was made since business results did not meet expectations. It said since Royal Enfield vehicles are imported from India they do not get import tax waivers like other brands such as Honda, Ducati and Kawasaki, which are shipped from Thailand. Another reason for the poor sales was that the retro and classic designs of Royal Enfield motorcycles were not popular in Vietnam, it said.
