Two of the sport’s brightest stars, Confederate and Geocentric, sparkled on a superb 10-race card which offered $3.4 million in prize money and included eight $400,000 Kentucky Championship finals and two $100,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series finals for freshman and sophomore trotters and pacers on Sunday (Sept. 17) at Red Mile.
On Sunday (Aug. 13) Red Mile hosted 10 second round sire stakes divisions on a 15-race card for freshman and sophomore fillies of both gaits. Geocentric remained a perfect four-for-four in her young career in the $80,000 Kentucky Sire Stakes split for two-year-old filly pacers and Mambacita resumed her winning ways in the leg for three-year-old trotting fillies.

Terrific trotting two-year-olds, a tongue twister that doubles as the 2022 slogan for John Bax’s stable. Heading into the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Super Finals at Woodbine Mohawk Park, Bax has a five-pack of freshman trotters taking aim at the winner’s share of the $225,000 purses they are competing for.
On Sunday (Sept. 18) The Red Mile hosted the most lucrative card in its history with eight $400,000 Kentucky Championship series finals for freshman and sophomore female and male trotters and pacers and two $100,000 Kentucky Commonwealth series finals for sophomore trotting fillies and male freshman pacers. Favorites provided their supporters with winning tickets but there were plenty of surprises on the 10-race card.
