Clashes between Palestinian protesters and Israeli police erupted on Saturday in Jerusalem’s Old City as tens of thousands of Muslim worshipers prayed at the nearby Al-Aqsa mosque on Islam’s Holy Night Laylat al-Qadr.
Young Palestinians threw stones, lit fires and threw police barricades into the streets leading to the gated Old City gates, while Israeli security forces rode and spread whitewashed grenades and water cannons on riot gear.
At least 64 people have been injured, the Palestinian Red Moon said. Israeli police said at least one officer was injured.
