Robbie Kruse burst onto the A-League scene in 2007 with Queensland Roar (now Brisbane Roar), providing a strong platform to launch a career which took the Socceroos ace to the German Bundesliga and back to Melbourne Victory, where the 32-year-old has plied his trade since 2019.
Kruse made his debut for the Roar on his 19th birthday against Wellington Phoenix. The promising teenager scored on debut in the 45th minute, combining with Michael Zullo (18 years old at the time) to devastating effect on either flank for Frank Farina s side.
Zullo scored one before assisting Kruse s maiden A-League goal to help the Roar notch a win over Wellington – an important result for the Queenslanders who had recorded one win in six games to open the 2007/08 campaign.

Back in October 2019 as a new A-League season was just coming to life, I penned an article for
Frankly, the majority of the players named were no brainers. Al Hassan Toure had already set Australian football on fire during Adelaide United’s run to the final of that edition of the FFA Cup, Sydney FC’s Luke Ivanovic continues to develop and should do further in a season where he appears likely to receive more playing minutes from Steve Corica and Angus Thurgate is lighting up McDonald Jones Stadium each time he takes to it.

Wenzel-Halls headed home in the 37th minute with teammate Jay O Shea doubling the lead with a cracking long-range strike eight minutes later at Redcliffe s Dolphin Stadium.
The young forward snared his brace in the 78th minute, before Adelaide s Nathan Konstandopoulos pulled back a goal four minutes later.
The win, Brisbane s third on the bounce, drew them level with Central Coast - who play on Sunday evening - on points and goal difference but ahead on goals scored.

Adelaide had a nervous start when goalkeeper James Delianov was forced to save teammate Jordan Elsey s own-goal-bound header after just six minutes.
Adelaide United have suffered a triple injury blow for Saturday's A-League match against Brisbane Roar with star striker Tomi Juric, Spaniard Javi Lopez and midfielder Ryan Strain all ruled out.

“I think we’ve got the best No 9 in the country.”
Even by the standards of coaches promoting their players, Adelaide United boss Carl Veart’s claim about Tomi Juric was a bold claim for Match Week One.
The eyebrows of Melbourne City’s prolific marksman Jamie Maclaren might well have shot up in response, but there are several strikers around the A-League who are likely to believe they deserve that title… or will do soon.
Juric added succour to Veart’s claim with his first goal back in Adelaide’s colours against Melbourne City in Match Week Two, reflecting afterwards on “a rough couple of years” thanks to injury.
