All 12 recipients will receive $750 in scholarship money. The scholarships support outstanding Black African American, Native American, Alaska Native, Asian American, Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander, or Hispanic American student-athletes playing a sanctioned varsity sport at a NCHSAA member school.
The first Tar Heel Trophy went to West Forsyth, while the Carolina Cup was won by Northwest Guilford at the NCHSAA Cheerleading Invitational on Saturday in Raleigh.
