The High Court made the observations while hearing a petition by advocate Geeta Shastri, who is a former additional government pleader, challenging disciplinary proceedings initiated against her based on the complaint filed by a litigant with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa (BCMG).
The FIR was lodged by Sanjay Gonde- Regional Joint Director (Sugar). The plea claimed the same was based on the original complaint of BJP MLC Ram Shinde, who lost to Rohit Pawar in 2019 assembly elections from Karjat-Jamkhed constituency.
A bench of Justices GS Patel and Neela Gokhale also directed that any consequential proceedings which may arise out of the order will be stayed till April 12.
