AKRON, Ohio, Jan. 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ With initial funding from Knight Foundation and administrative support from ArtsNow, an idea sparked as part of the Akron cultural planning process is coming to life on Feb. 3, 2021.
During a community forum in the summer of 2019, local artists Dara Harper and Diane Johnson suggested the concept of a Black Artist Guild as a networking association and support system for Akron s Black creative talent.

AKRON, Ohio – The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation announced it will award grants totaling $650,000 to ArtsNow, a nonprofit advocating for arts and culture, and the Nightlight Cinema, an independent nonprofit movie theater.
The awards support the foundation’s mission of helping to make art more accessible to Akron residents in an effort to create stronger, more informed and more engaged communities.
