Second half goals from Clint Hill and Heidar Helguson consigned Town to the second league defeat of Paul Jewell’s reign against table-topping QPR at Loftus Road. The Blues had been the better side in the first half but after the break Neil Warnock’s side upped a gear and struck twice in the last quarter of an hour.
Paul Jewell is expected to recall loanee Jimmy Bullard for the trip to league leaders QPR but the Blues boss says picking his midfield for this evening s game was the toughest call of his time at Portman Road (KO 8pm). The midfielder missed Saturday’s 1-1 draw with his parent club Hull City as he was unavailable under the terms of his loan.
Town’s unbeaten start to the season came to an abrupt end as Neil Warnock’s impressive QPR side ran out comfortable 3-0 winners at Portman Road. Jamie Mackie struck twice in the first half and Heidar Helguson added a third from the spot after the break.
Fabian Wilnis saw red for the fourth time in his Town career and for the third time against Plymouth as the Blues drew 1-1 at Home Park. Alan Lee put Town in front in the second minute, but the Pilgrims hit back through a controversial Sylvan Ebanks-Blake penalty late on.
