Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has instructed his Cabinet ministers to “examine and properly review” their ties to the Unification Church, now formally known as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification.
The new chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party’s Policy Research Council knew he was at a gathering for the Unification Church’s associated organization ahead of the July 10 Upper House election.
The senior ruling party lawmaker gave ¥15,000 to the Women's Federation for World Peace Japan six times in the name of his supporters' group and an LDP branch, according to his office.
