GIS arrests 151 foreigners for illegal entry into Ghana

PERSONNEL of the Akanu Sector of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) , in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region, have for the past three weeks arrested 151 nationals of four West African countries, for flouting the border closure and entering the country through unapproved routes.
The illegal immigrants were made up of 119 Nigerians, 22 Niger nationals, seven Benin nationals and three from Cote d’Ivoire.
According the GIS, they gained access into Ghana with assistance from a cross-border syndicate.
Assistant Inspector Felix Klu-Adjei, Officer in charge of Public Affairs of the GIS in the Volta Region, disclosed this to the Ghanaian Times in Ho yesterday.
