Dubois good evening, scott is off tonight, im Maurice Dubois and this is our western edition. The United States offered russia more help with security for the Winter Olympics. This follows the second deadly terror attack in two days in the russian city today a bus was blown up, yesterday the target was a railway station. The two attacks blamed on suicide bombers killed at least 31 people and wounded more than a hundred. Many of the wounded are in grave condition. Volgograd, until 1961 as stalingrad is about 400 miles from sofchi, the host city for the winter games which begin on february 7. Elizabeth palmer has more on the attacks. Reporter volgograds main rail station was hit first. A storm that dumped a foot of snow in the midwest is joining forces with a noreaster moving up the coast. Winter storm warnings and advisories are up tonight throughout the region. Thousands of flights were canceled or delayed today. And these are live pictures from the storm zone where onethird of the u. S. Population lives. We have a team of correspondents covering the story. Well begin in boston with Karen Anderson of cbs station wbz. Karen . Karen . Reporter maurice, weve already gotten four inches of snow and were expecting another 10 to 14 inches overnight. Now, the governor sent home state workers early today and the National Guard was activated. Bostonians tried all day to keep pace with the falling snow but most realized this was just the first step.
