Maxwell Mutanda Creative director Maxwell Mutanda uses multidisciplinary research combined with visual art and architecture to analyse the role of globalisation, climate and technology within the built environment. Based in Zimbabwe, Mutanda is a creative director at Studio (D) Tale and a design fellow at returnable packaging service, CupClub. Before this he studied Architecture at the Bartlett, and is the 2020 MSc in Sustainable Urban Development Sheehan Scholar at the University of Oxford.

Jameel Library@ Jameel Arts Centre publishes its first illustrated novel 15 Feb 2021 Muhammad Yusuf, Features Writer The Jameel Library, an integral part of Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai’s contemporary art institution, has published its first illustrated novel by Sarnath Banerjee. ‘17-year Cicada’ features ten chapters, released every fortnight on the Centre’s website. ‘17-year Cicada’ is an episodic account of a young woman trapped in a vast library. She goes through the stages of denial, anger and acceptance. Surrendering to her fate, she roams around the desolate reading rooms, walks between the shelves, takes selfies and eats from the well-stocked refrigerator. Sometimes she has imaginary conversations. The place feels like the furthest outpost of the Gobi desert.

TEMPE, AZ .- “Body/Magic: Liz Cohen” presents all aspects of Phoenix-based artist Liz Cohen’s well-known “Bodywork” series for the first time. The exhibition at ASU Art Museum offers new and never-before-seen video, photographs, performance and ephemera related to this tour-de-force project. For the original “Bodywork” series, Cohen merged two cars, the American El Camino and the East German Trabant, into one customized lowrider. Simultaneously, she transformed her own body to become a bikini model for her car, which she presented at lowrider shows in and around Phoenix, Arizona. “In the car show, there are really three kinds of people,” said the artist. “There are the car owners, the car builders and the models that represent the cars.
