PM to open 50 model mosques tomorrow

SAVAR, June 9, 2021 (BSS)–Coinciding with the ‘Mujib Year’, 50 model mosques out of total 560 are set to be opened simultaneously across the country tomorrow, aiming at preaching the true message of Islam to eliminate religious misconceptions.
“Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the mosques at 10.30am through videoconferencing from her official residence Ganabhaban in the capital,” Deputy Project Director (DPD) Shafique Talukder said at a briefing on the premises of Savar Upazila Model Mosque today.
The mosques are located at Savar upazila in Dhaka, Madhukhali and Saltha upazilas in Faridpur, Pakundia and Kuliarchar upazilas in Kishoreganj, Shibaloy upazila in Manikganj, Rajbari sadar upazila, Shariatpur sadar and Gosairhat upazilas, Shariakandi, Sherpur and Kahaloo upazilas in Bogura, Sapahar and Porsha upazilas in Naogaon, Sirajganj district and sadar upazila, Chatmohar upazila in Pabna, Godagari an

DHAKA, May 05, 2021 (BSS) – Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of her party’s president of Kachua Upazila unit of Bagerhat district and chairman of the Upazila Parishad SM Mafuzur Rahman.
In a message of condolence, she prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

The number of diarrhoea patients has been rising alarmingly in Bagerhat.
Medical staff at different hospitals of the district have been grappling with the sudden influx as they provided treatment to more than 600 diarrhoea patients in the past week alone, while 200 of the patients still remain hospitalised.
Dr KM Humayun Kabir, civil surgeon of Bagerhat, said the incidence of waterborne diseases has increased due to drinking of contaminated water.
