AK Steel and its Dearborn Works steel plant were purchased in 2020 by Cleveland-based Cleveland-Cliffs Inc.
The Sierra Club and Environment Michigan intend to sue Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. over alleged federal Clean Air Act violations at its Dearborn plant near the border with Detroit.
The advocacy groups and their legal team on Wednesday sent required 60-day notice of its lawsuit plans to the Cleveland-based iron ore pellet producer, which bought previous Dearborn Works plant owner AK Steel in March 2020.

MARQUETTE The Middletown Community Foundation has announced that nominations for the AK Steel Magnolia Award are now open for Marquette County residents.
The award honors women of all ages who have faced personal adversity and have shown exceptional strength, courage, compassion and leadership through their work in support of their communities.
Women who have overcome obstacles to positively impact the community have the opportunity to earn recognition as a Steel Magnolia Award recipients in the program funded by the AK Steel Foundation.One award recipient will be selected in each of the AK Steel, AK Tube or Cleveland-Cliffs communities in the U.S. The overall program grants up to 15 awards and each recipient designates a $2,500 donation to an eligible charity of her choice.
