Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren termed women hockey players Salima Tete and Nikki Pradhan and archer Deepika Kumari icons of the state and promised several gifts for them once they return from the ongoing Tokyo Olympic Games.
“Our girls have braved all odds and reached the international stage. They are icons of the state. We have planned many gifts for them once they return,” Soren said.
Jharkhand government on Tuesday handed over cheques worth Rs 5 lakh each to the parents of Deepika, Salima and Nikki in a programme which was organized by the state department of sports, arts, culture and youth affairs.
