PURI: Shree Jagannath Temple Administration Thursday said construction work on the chariots of the three deities of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and sister Subhadra, for the annual Rath Yatra in the pilgrim town here is going on as per schedule even as eight carpenters engaged in the task have tested COVID-19 positive.
SJTA chief administration Krishan Kumar said of the 88 servitors imvolved in the construction of the chariots, three servitors of Maharana community and five sevayats belonging to the Bhoi community have been infected with the virus, and are undergoing treatment at a facility here.

BHUBANESWAR: The Jagannath Temple administration has requested the state government to supply adequate Covid vaccine for the servitors, their family members and shrine staff. Besides, the temple body has decided to launch a toll-free number for servitors to provide them with necessary assistance during Covid.
On Thursday, temple’s chief administrator Krishan Kumar along with Puri district collector Samarth Verma reviewed the arrangements for Covid management and discussed measures to ensure smooth conduct of daily rituals and health and wellbeing of the servitors.
“A micro plan is being drafted for ensuring all sevayats involved in conduct of rituals are vaccinated on time. Focus will be on early detection of Covid-19 among their families through generation of awareness, house-to-house survey and timely treatment. Medicine kit will be provided by the temple administration to all sevayats, who are affected by Covid,”
