What is Urus?
Urus is a festival which is celebrated in Assam, both by the Muslims and Hindus to pay homage to the memories of the great Muslim reformer, Azan Fakir. It is especially celebrated at Ajan Pir Dargah at Sivasagar, the Royal city of Assam. In India, it is this place where people from both the communities i.e. Muslims and Hindus get together and honour the shrine of Ajan Fakir, the great saint.
