By Tom Harris News and sports reporter Derek Thomas MP with Stuart Sugden (Royal Mail Operations Manager – Cornwall) Picture: Royal Mail Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly has been chosen to trial a groundbreaking project by the Royal Mail using drones to deliver mail.  Derek Thomas, MP for St Ives and West Cornwall, has visited St Mary’s Airport to observe Royal Mail’s trial of the first out-of-sight, autonomous scheduled drone flight between the UK mainland and the Scilly Islands. Royal Mail has also become the first to execute inter-island parcel deliveries across the Scillies, as part of the trial.
