It has been roughly a century since planes began flying at what is now Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, which has evolved from a bankrupt racetrack to an acclaimed travel hub.
But what physical structures remain from the airport s earlier history, dating back to its days as Wold-Chamberlain Field? David Campbell, an aviation buff from La Crosse, Wis., sought answers from Curious Minnesota, the Star Tribune s community reporting project fueled by great reader questions.

Two fire marshals put out a fire at a boutique yesterday and spared The Airport Mall from further damage.
Sixteen firefighters from Berakas Fire Station and Women Operation Unit Fire Station led by DSO Haji Noordin bin Haji Lias responded to the incident after receiving an emergency call at 10.05am, according the Fire and Rescue Department (FRD).
They found the fire already put out by fire marshals. However, firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus still doused the area using a water hose and dry powder fire extinguisher as a precaution.
