I enlisted before the japanese attack and i did that because uncle sam had paid for my flying to get a privates license and have a basis for going on to flying at randolph and Kelly Air Force base. The other thing was that as a young person, i had been interested in aviation, mainly because i was exposed to a lot of Army Air Corp flying.
