With a decline in the number of daily Covid-19 cases across several countries, India has now dropped the mandate to present a negative Covid-19 test report for international passengers arriving from China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Thailand and Japan. The changes were notified by the Union Health Secretary last week.
Airlines are directed to modify their check-in functionalities to incorporate the changes and issue boarding passes only to those international passengers travelling from six countries.
As per the latest guidelines, travellers coming from China, Thailand, Japan, and others, if found symptomatic or tested positive for Covid-19, will be quarantined.
The Union health ministry has already asked the civil aviation ministry to ensure random post-arrival coronavirus testing at airports of 2% of the passengers arriving in India.
